Nightlab is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. A gift to Nightlab supports dynamic public art activities that bring Portland’s creative DNA to life. Your support advances the Portland Winter Light Festival, the Morrison Bridge Lighting Program, the Illuminate Bridge City initiative, installations in vacant retail spaces and temporary public art installations throughout Portland.
Grounded in measurable impact and community response, Nightlab’s work shows that public passion for art, creativity and connection can act as meaningful catalysts for both cultural vibrancy and economic vitality.
Support Nightlab’s Work
For four decades, Nightlab, formerly Willamette Light Brigade, has advanced its mission of connecting community and enriching the public realm through art and artful lighting.
Ongoing annual programming shapes how Portland is experienced after dark. From the early years of lighting the Morrison Bridge in 1988 to founding the Portland Winter Light Festival in 2016, this work has harnessed the public’s passion for light-art and creativity to contribute to the cultural and economic vitality of Portland. These activities build civic pride, enhance Portland’s nighttime identity, support a community of artists and designers, and bring people together to invigorate Portland when it is most needed.
Give to the Annual Fund
Contribute where it’s needed most. A gift to Nightlab’s Annual Fund helps sustain the organization’s year-round work, strengthen operations, support artists and public programs, and provide flexibility to meet new opportunities as they arise.
It takes many lumens to light up Portland. Community-minded individuals and couples who make a one-time annual gift of $500 or more, or an ongoing monthly gift of $42 or more, will be automatically enrolled in the Lumens Giving Circle.
Lumens Giving Circle members receive:
- Tickets to special engagement events, including the Portland Winter Light Festival VIP kickoff party
- Recognition on the Nightlab and Portland Winter Light Festival websites
- The opportunity to join a community of supporters who believe in the power of light-based art to bring people together and shape Portland after dark
